Randolph Cremer, RN - Assistant Director Biomedical Engineering

Most challenging thing about being a superhero:

Staying dynamic. We never know when and where technical issues will arise so we need to be prepared to rapidly resolve these issues with the resources at hand.

Most rewarding thing about being a superhero:

As a Biomedical Engineer there is nothing more rewarding than helping a clinician at the bedside. I choose to do this at DEBORAH because I am part of an institution that proves people can receive quality healthcare without financial burden. This is what prompted me to use my hobby of motorcycling to raise funds for DEBORAH. Developing “Highway to Healthcare” as a means to raise funds for our Foundation has given me the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated volunteers. After much planning the reward for me is seeing over 400 motorcycles in my rear view mirror joining us in support of DEBORAH's mission.

Describe your work environment:

I have the privilege of working with many people in many areas. Sometimes it is one on one at the bedside providing immediate solutions and other times it is with a team working on a long term project. We are fortunate at DEBORAH to have some of the absolute latest and best technology available to healthcare providers, which keeps me on top of my game. This diversity is what I like the most about being a Biomedical Engineer. DEBORAH people are the most compassionate and dedicated people I have ever worked with.

How does DEBORAH take care of its employees?

The tuition assistance program and flexible scheduling aided me in earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Engineering Technology. Education has always been a priority and every year educational programs are available for Biomedical Technicians to specialize in new technologies.

What does “taking the high road” mean to you?

Doing everything possible to assist those in need. I feel that we are responsible to help the people around us. Mustering the courage and strength to achieve this is not always easy but it is always the right thing to do.
